Our second play of 2025 will be
The the much loved Irish play, The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, directed by Paul Roukchan (12 Angry Jurors). This dark comedy is set in an island community off the west coast of Ireland in 1934. When a Hollywood film crew arrives to make a documentary, "Cripple" Billy Claven is eager to take part, both to seek his fortune and to escape the poverty and cruelty of Inishmaan. Will Billy achieve his dreams? |
Next up is The 53rd Victim, by NZ playwright Pip Hall, directed by Catherine Falstie-Jensen. Based on a true story and set in London following the Tube bombings of 2005, this fascinating and ultimately tragic play follows the story of a NZ doctor who becomes a media hero after helping victims of the bombing. But what really happened? And was she who she claimed to be?

Rounding out 2025 will be Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest, directed by Paul Norell (It's Never too Late). This delightful comedy from 1895 is still fresh and entertaining today, with young lovers, mistaken identities, and glorious Wildean repartee. And great outfits! Definitely one not to be missed.
